Fashion Revolution 2019
earth day (22nd april) marks the anniversary of the fourth largest industrial disaster in history, the rana plaza collapse. Marking the first day of fashion revolution week.
the science is clear, climate breakdown is happening fast and the fashion system is a major contribution to global carbon emissions, pollution, water contamination, mass extinction and so many other that hinder a healthy planet.
if we are to really address the magnitude of fashion’s impact, we must remember that the most sustainable clothing is that which we already own! since fashion revolution started, humans from all over the world have used their voice and their power to tell brands that things must change, and it’s working. this movement won’t stop until every garment worker who makes the clothes we love is seen, heard, paid properly and working in safe conditions.
as founders of stories behind things we promise to; Support brands that are being open about where their clothes are made, to support manufacturers that are making their factories safer and to support producers are being seen and heard.
collective change is undeniably powerful and your voice make a difference. ♥️ so, what can you do?
1. turn your clothes inside out
2. take a picture of your label
3. post it on social media to ask a brand you love #WhoMadeMyClothes
4. wait for your response. brands should be able to easily offer information if it isn’t public already, explaining who/where/how your clothes are made.
