PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION | EARTH DAY

Living in line with our values has never been more important. Today marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, but why is it crucial we consider the climate crisis now?
Throughout the last few months we have been made crucially aware of our individual and global vulnerability. Alongside our global health emergency, scientists have been continuing to expose the facts about our impending climate crisis, now more than ever we need to empower collective action. We are all recovering hypocrites when it comes to living in line with our values, and that’s ok. Many people share feelings of alienation and guilt for not doing things ‘perfectly’. We say each time, this movement needs EVERYBODY making managble changes, however imperfect they may be. We need to build an inclusive movement that can drive change. Progress Over Perfection.

Many of us want to try and lessen our impact on the earth, so here’s a beginners guide to do just that /
- Upgrade products bathroom and kitchen (like bamboo toothbrushes, soap bars, cleaning products @packagefreeshop @ecover_uk)
- Maintain clothes you love by fixing them, sewing holes and getting creative
- Commit to signing necessary petitions to support the systematic changes we need
- Go to your local farmer’s markets to reduce plastic waste
- Purchase fashion from brands who show their transparency and commitment in a greener future (Look out for specific crepitations like @ecoage brandmark, @positiveluxury)
- Support businesses with social impact (@bcorporation)
- Try composting your food waste at home
- Coffee/ tea/ water in a reusable coffee cups (@oceanbottle @keepcup)
- Save water (shorter showers)
- Swap clothes, shop vintage / use rental for occasions (@hurr)
- Use sustainably farmed palm oil and cosmetics products (@lush @renskincare @sukinskincare @bysarah)
- Use your voice to share resources and positivity in regard to living more consciously
- Sustainable & ethical cosmetics (look out for the @rainforestalliance & @orangutanalliance signs)
- Go package free & re-usable (Bulk stores, supermarkets, products from @packagefreeshop )
- Cycle / walk more
